Rewards and Recognition
Overview
MIT has introduced a new Rewards and Recognition Program that is designed to:
* Recognize MIT employees (both individuals and teams) for their exceptional contributions to their office, their department or school, or to the Institute as a whole.
* Provide a continuum of opportunities to acknowledge and recognize members of the MIT community.
* Help foster an environment of shared success and commitment.
* Highlight behaviors and activities that have benefited MIT and showcase employees as role models.
The intent of the program is to encourage broad-based recognition for MIT employees. The program itself is meant to provide opportunities to recognize and reward members of MIT's administrative staff, support staff, service staff, sponsored research staff, and, when appropriate, faculty. It also is meant to supplement, rather than replace, existing reward mechanisms, and is separate and distinct from base pay. For more information regarding this program and guidelines please visit:

MITIMCo Rewards and Recognition Program
MITIMCo Rewards and Recognition program is named Taking Stock.
Four awards will be issued on a quarterly basis. They include the following:
Ambassadorship Award
This award will be given to an individual (or team of individuals) who is a team player, is mission-driven, shows office pride, and presents a positive image within the community.
Total Return Award
This award will be given to an individual (or team of individuals) who has shown results, has worked efficiently, has been quick to respond, and has shown diligence and accountability.
Diplomat's Award
This award will be given to an individual (or team of individuals) who has demonstrated good communication and collaboration with colleagues and others, which includes building consensus and encouraging others.
E=Mc2 Award
This award will be given to an individual (or team of individuals) who has shown innovation and creativity, advance organizational learning and creative thinking, and has put forth a willingness to learn.
Our goal is to collect nomination forms for these awards throughout the quarter and recognize the award winners at an event. Nominations made for individuals or teams should ensure that they fit the criteria for each award noted above. A committee within the office will review each nomination and finalize award winners prior to each event. You should use the Rewards and Recognition Program on-line nomination form, which can be found at:
http://web.mit.edu/hr/rewards/key_login.html
Please nominate as many individuals or teams as you see fit (as often as you like).
In addition to the awards noted above, managers within MITIMCo will be issuing Appreciation (spot) Awards. They are intended to acknowledge and demonstrate immediate and spontaneous appreciation and recognition for the exceptional contributions of individuals and teams. These awards will be given at the time of achievement. They might come in the form of thank-you notes, gift certificates, lunches, movie tickets or tickets to sporting events.
Questions regarding the program can be sent to Marsha Edmunds or Bill Heitin.
