The MITIMCo Estates and Trusts group is responsible for the receipt, administration, and settlement of MIT's ownership interests in estates and trusts, and all legal issues related thereto. These interests are recorded on MIT's books and the assets are typically in the MIT Endowment.
This group works with the Office of Resource Development concerning external relationships with donors and prospects, the Office of the Recording Secretary regarding the administration, and management of funds, the General Counsel's Office regarding legal issues, and with the Controller and Accounting Services Office for finance and accounting matters.
The group is also responsible for the management of special or unusual gifted assets. These assets typically include real estate, interests in limited partnerships, tangible personal property, mineral rights, and royalties. These assets are recorded and managed or liquidated as appropriate.
