Open Courseware

MIT has made a commitment to make the course materials used in the teaching of all MIT undergraduate and graduate subjects available on the Web, free of charge, to any user in the world. The website (ocw.mit.edu) currently has 1,800 courses posted and receives over 1.5 million hits per month from around the world. One viewer from Sub-Saharan Africa described it this way:

"Currently I am in a state of shock. I cannot believe that one can get access to such information. In fact, I had been to this website a number of times but never understood the scale of the initiative. I cannot thank you enough for opening a window."
